Covid is Overhyped in India

It has been my opinion that Covid is overhyped in India and people and goverment have been sent to an unnecessary paranoia. We are quite different from western countries both in terms of our demographics and inherently higher immunity. More than 1/3rd of the deaths in west are in old age homes [1] which are virtually non existent in India. I did a back of the envelope calculation on projected Covid deaths in India. It counts to less than 2 deaths in every 1000 infections for people less than 60 years of age. It is high time that we stop this illogical blanket lock down, open up the economy and, as suggested by Cash and Patel in Lancet recently, allow the average citizen to travel freely with restrictions only applied to clusters where lockdowns are necessary [2].
